Texas State Capitol
The sixth tallest state capitol, Texas State Capitol is the workplace of the State Governor and the Chambers of the Texas Legislature. It was completed in 1888 and recognized as a National Historic Landmark in the year 1986. Sited on a hilltop overlooking downtown Austin, it has a rectangular building with a four-story central block and a dome emerging in the center. The building is enclosed by 22 acres of grounds distributed with statues and monuments.
